Quick Guide to Pleated Panel Filters

Pleated panel filters provide efficient pre-filtration across a range of industry sectors. Here at CFP we’re passionate about helping our customers find the right filter solutions for their businesses, that’s why we’ve created this handy guide to pleated panel filters to help you find out everything you need to know about these strong and versatile filters.

What is a pleated panel filter?

Pleated panel filters are panel filters in which the polyester material is neatly arranged in a uniformed pleat configuration inside the frame. This gives a larger surface area, which leads to higher dust holding capacity.

How do pleated panel filters work?

With a 98% open face area, the larger surface area of the pleated panel filter means more dust particles can be collected by the filter, improving the quality of indoor air.

What are pleated panel filters used for?

Pleated panel filters act as a pre-filtration for conditioning systems in air conditioning and ventilation systems. By creating consistent, high quality air they ideal pre-filter for air conditioning systems across a range of industry sectors including hotels, offices, hospitals, food environments and asbestos removal.

Our ProPleatS pleated panel filters have an innovative design with self-supporting pleats and a larger surface area which allows a larger dust holding capacity. This result is high quality, clean indoor air.

What are they made from?

Pleated panel filters are available with either card or metal frames and a non-shedding polyester medium. Metal frames are recommended for environments with high moisture content and high air volumes.

It’s important to remember that when pleated panel filters are installed the pleats should run vertically and the frames should be correctly sized and fitted to the conditioning system. This avoids any sagging of the panel which, if unnoticed, can cause unwanted air bypass through the filter system.

Our pleated panel filters are available in a full range of standard sizes, but bespoke panel filters can be made to suit your individual needs.

Key benefits:

  • High indoor air quality - The non-shedding polyester material provides high indoor air quality, avoiding unwanted particles in filtered air that can sometimes occur with shedding media. With 50% more pleats, our pleated panel filters have increased dust holding capacity resulting in high quality, clean air.
  • Long service life - The larger surface area of our pleated panel filters offers a longer service life and reduces the need for costly panel changes in the unit.
  • Energy saving - With a larger dust holding capacity and lower pressure drop, our pleated panel filters have a high level of efficiency over the service life. This, therefore, lowers the level of direct energy needed to run the units and reduces CO₂ emissions and running costs.
  • Tested - All our pleated panel filters are tested to EN779:2012 standard and are fire retardant according to DIN53438-3(F1), so you can be confident that they meet industry safety standards.
